Dec. 1, 1942 - June 23, 1999 Robert David Gillen, 56, formerly of South Bend, Ind., expired following a battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 23, in Community South Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind. Robert David was born in South Bend on Dec. 1, 1942, to Robert M. And Alice M. Gillen. Bob was preceded in death by his father, and by his brother, Jim. Bob graduated in 1960 from Clay High School. He served his country in the United States Army. On. Jan. 28, 1967, he married JoAnne Durham, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Molly (Don) Burns, Theresa (David) Holt and Beverly Gillen, all of Indianapolis; and by his mother, Alice (Setlock) Gillen of Granger, Ind. Brothers and sisters included Tom (Mickie) Gillen of Lafayette, Ind., Denny (Stella) Gillen of Odessa, Mo., Mary Devereaux of Mishawaka, Ind., and Rosemary Gillen of South Bend; one grandson, Joey Burns of Indianapolis; and two nieces and seven nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, in St. Marks Catholic Church, Indianapolis. Reception for family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, June 25, in the Singleton and Herr Mortuary, 7520 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis. Godspeed, David.
