Harriet Esther Gill

April 10, 1929 - May 17, 2010
MISHAWAKA - Harriet Esther Soule Gill, 81, of Mishawaka, passed away on Monday, May 17th, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka. Harriet was born on April 10, 1929, in Mishawaka, to the late Howard R. Soule and Fannie I. (Colvin) Soule-Baker. On July 9, 1949, in the Mishawaka First Church of God, she married Ralph K. Gill Jr., who preceded her in death on June 15, 2008. She is survived by her four children, Sharon (Dennis) VandenBossche, Georgia (Robert) Elkins, Dwayne (Darlene) Gill and David (Jean) Gill, all of Mishawaka; 11 living grandchildren; one sister, Alice (David) Overly of Peru, IN; two brothers, Wayne (Kay) Soule of Bremen and Thomas Soule of South Bend. Harriet was preceded by a son, Robert Gill, a daughter, Deborah Gill, a sister, Beverly Stewart, and three brothers, Richard, Allen and Howard Soule. Harriet led a very active life: she was a member of Michiana Community Church of God, a past president of the PTA, a member of the Women's Moose Lodge in Mishawaka, Missionary Society of the Church of God, was a Campfire Girls leader, a member of REACT, a member of Miss America's Rejects (Bunco Club), and a member of Hugs from God and Me Too. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and doing genealogy. Friends may visit with the family from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 20th, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, and one hour prior to the services. Funeral services celebrating Harriet's life will be held at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel, with Rev. Denver Burns and Rev. Ervin Mize officiating. Burial is to follow the services at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made in Harriet's name to the Michiana Community Church of God.
