Leo Gillig

January 25, 1895December 17, 1974

 

Leo Gillig, 79, of Decatur IN, father of Rev. Gerald Gillig, assistant pastor at St Matthew Cathedral, Rev. John Gillig, former assistant pastor of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church and Rev. Donald Gillig, former assistant pastor of St Matthew Cathedral and St Anthony’s Catholic Church, died Tuesday afternoon in his home.  Gillig was a former Adams County sheriff and a Decatur business man.

 

Born January 25, 1895, in Adams County, he had lived there all his life.  His widow, the former Florence Kohne, survives with three other sons, Albert, at home, David of Fort Wayne and Anthony of Decatur; two daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Shelley of Indianapolis and Mrs. Marcella Smith of Bluffton; 16 grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters.

 

Services will be at 11am Friday in St Mary’s Catholic Church, Decatur.  Burial will be in the St Joseph’s Cemetery, Decatur. 

 

Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Thursday in the Gillig-Doan and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, where a rosary will be recited at 8pm Thursday.
