WALKERTON - Irene H. Gjemre, 82, of Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, Ind., passed away at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Miller's Merry Manor. Irene was born April 18, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., to Harry and Alice (Locke) Pehrson, and had lived most of her life in the Walkerton area.

On April 5, 1942, in Donaldson, Ind., she was married to Carl H. Gjemre, who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one daughter, Diane (Don) Johnson of Koontz Lake, Ind.; one son, Paul (Deborah) Gjemre of South Bend, Ind.; four grandchildren, Elin and Britta Johnson, and Daina and Kristofer Gjemre; and by a brother, William (Ellie) Pehrson of Fort Wayne, Ind. Irene was a former bookkeeper for Wells Aluminum in North Liberty, Ind., a 50-year member of the Walkerton OES Lodge #319, and was a member of the Walkerton American Legion Post #189 Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. EST Saturday in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Friends may call Saturday noon until the time of services in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Irene may be made to the Walkerton American Legion Post #189 Auxiliary.
