Ronald L. Gladish, D. O., 59 years old, residing on Linden Hills, Covert, MI, passed away at 11:43 A. M. Friday, October 11, 2002 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Dr. Gladish was born on November 10, 1942 in Rockford, IL to the late Ted & Dee (Rosander) Gladish. His step father, Elmer Dahlin also preceded him in death. Dr. Gladish resided in South Bend since 1978 coming from Mount Clemens, MI and wintered in Scottsdale AZ.

 

On August 16, 1969 in Rockford, IL, he married the former Virginia "Ginny" Voltz who survives. Along with his wife, Ginny, of 33 years, survivors include; one daughter, Micki (Dave) Schueler of Chicago, IL; one son, Ted V. Gladish of Columbia, SC; one grandson, Zack Schueler; one sister, Diane Conard of Rockford, IL; mother and father-in-law, Dr. & Mrs. Vernon Voltz of Rockford; sister-in-law, Martha (Kent) Mallquist of Rockford; brother-in-law, Robert Voltz of Rockford; four nephews, Glen (Lisa) Conard of Rockford; Ken (Lina) Gladish of Glenview, IL; Scott Gladish of Beverly, MD and Brett Schoech of Chicago; and two nieces, Jennifer (Paul) Hovelsrud of Minneapolis, and Amy (Gus) Axelson of Minneapolis.

 

Dr. Gladish graduated from the University of Illinois, was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, and lettered in Fencing. He was a graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1974, served his internship at Mt. Clemens General Hospital, and his residency in Ear, Nose, Throat and Facial plastics at Mt. Clemens.

 

He established his practice in South Bend from 1978-2001 in Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery, and retired June of 2001. He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Indiana Osteopathic Association and the Osteopathic College of Opthalmalogy and Otorhinolaryngology. He was past chairman of the Surgical Department of St. Mary's Hospital, Member of the Board of Directors of Michiana Community Hospital in the late 1980's; and Outstanding Teacher of the Year for Medical residents in 1995. He was also a member of Morris Park Country Club, South Bend where he served on the Board of Directors from 1998-2000; past board member of Point of Woods Country Club, Benton Harbor, MI; member of Desert Highlands Country Club, Scottsdale AZ; member of Grace United Methodist Church, South Bend, and attended the Pinnacle Peak Presbyterian Church, Scottsdale, AZ.

 

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3114 South Twyckenham Drive, South Bend. Rev. Pete Buss will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 8:00 P. M. today, October 14, in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Contributions in Memory of Dr. Ronald L.
