Sister M. Lillian Gleason CSC, 90, of St. Mary’s Convent, died about 11:55 a.m. Sunday in her residence. Sister M. Lillian was born May 14, 1902 in Savannah, Ga., as Alice Lucille Gleason. She

Entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Jan. 19, 1922; was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1922; and professed her final vows Aug. 15, 1924.

She was assigned as a music teacher and taught in Anderson, Ind., Salt Lake City, and Boise, Idaho. She retired to the convent in 1983. She served as dean of students at Dunbarton College, Washington, D.C; religious superior at Cardinal Cushing College, Brookline, Mass.; and came to St. Mary’s Convent in 1961, serving in various administrative capacities for 14 years; and served in Kensington, Maryland until 1983.

 

Services will be at Christ the King Chapel, St. Mary’s Convent. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today in the convent parlor. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor fund, St. Mary’s.
