SOUTH BEND - Hattie Carol Goeller, 58, passed away at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008, in her residence. Carol was born on July 12, 1949, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Chester and Larcena (Marshell) Ritchie. Mrs. Goeller was a member of the Elkhart County Community Baptist Church.

On September 14, 1985, in Mishawaka, she married Karl H. Goeller, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Susan Smith of Kentucky, Vanessa Goeller of Florida and Heather Goeller of South Bend; a son, Karl Goeller of South Bend; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Pheabe Parks of Kentucky, Edith Trusty of Indiana, Jean Rausch of Indiana and Rita Fugate of Kentucky; and eight brothers, Ed Ritchie of Indiana, Clyde Ritchie of Indiana, Glen Ritchie of Ohio, Hershell Ritchie of Kentucky, Haven Ritchie of Kentucky, Danny Ritchie of Ohio, Gary Ritchie of Kentucky and Ricky Ritchie of Kentucky. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, Sunny Ray Ritchie.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, January 18, 2008, in Elkhart County Community Baptist Church, 23805 Sunnyside Avenue, Elkhart. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may call two hours prior to services in the church. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, South Bend, is handling the arrangements.
