Herman ''Hi'' J. Goeller, 81, of East 12th Street, Mishawaka, passed away early Tuesday morning. He was born in Mishawaka on Feb. 18, 1915 and was a lifelong resident.
On Oct. 26, 1940, in St. Michael's Church, Waterloo, Ind., he married the former Margaret T. Miller who preceded him in death on May 6, 1995. He is survived by a daughter, Marie Ann Burt of South Bend, four grandchildren, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Catherine Goeller, both of Mishawaka.
Herman retired in 1976 from the former Schumacher Construction Company in Mishawaka for whom he worked as a heavy equipment operator for 40 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, Knights of Columbus Council 1878, Eagles Aerie 2083, Teamsters Local 364, Midwest Operating Engineers and the DeAmicis Club.
Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 27 in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka from 3 to 7 p.m. where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Mishawaka.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
