Elsie Goethals, 78, of Rockne Drive, South Bend, passed away at 9 p.m. Monday, July 8, in her residence, after an illness.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1917, in South Bend, Ind. and was a life long area resident.
On April 29, 1940, in South Bend, Ind., as Elsie Celichowski, she married Ferniand Vern Goethals, who survives with a son, Paul V. Goethals, of Mishawaka, Ind.; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry A. and Lauren Goethals, of Valparaiso, Ind; and two grandchildren, Jake P. and Jessica L. Goethals, of Valparaiso, Ind.
Funeral mass will be Thursday, July 11 at noon in Sacred Heart Church, 61568 U.S. 31 South, South Bend, Ind., with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Goethals retired from E. H. Tepe Co., South Bend, Ind., after 17 years, and also worked for Wilson Brothers for many years. She was a member of B-K Club, Ladies Auxiliary Sacred Heart Church, South Bend, and the Alter Society.
