Mary Jane Goff

Mary Jane Goff, 94, of South Bend, passed away at 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, in her daughter's residence. Mary Jane was born on December 26, 1911, in South Bend, as the daughter of Charles and Nina (Goldner) Romine. She was preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters, Rhonda Cerney and Julia Kay LaMonte; and a son-in-law, Dr. Alan Hutchcroft.

 

On June 24, 1934, in South Bend, as the former Mary Jane Romine, she married Lewis Maxwell Goff, who preceded her in death on November 1, 2003, after 69 loving years of marriage. Mary Jane was a lifelong area resident and was a member of Coalbush United Methodist Church, Mishawaka. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving Mary Jane are three daughters, Mary Ann (John) LaMonte of Waterford, MI, Jane (Jim) Cerney of South Bend and Elaine Hutchcroft of Rockford, IL; a son, Richard (Charlotte) Goff of Albuquerque, NM; 10 grandchildren, Laura (Donn) LaMonte-Harris of Waterford, MI, Daniel Goff LaMonte of Waterford, MI, Jennifer Lynn (Paul) St. Louis of High Point, NC, Jim (Shari) Cerney of Mishawaka, Janice (Bob) Stevens of Granger, Jeff (Shari) Cerney of Osceola, Eric (Tricia) Hutchcroft of Maple Park, IL, Sara (Matt) Brown of Cantor, IL, Lisa (Shad) Averhoff of Denver, CO, and Traci (Bryon) Alexander, Albuquerque, NM; 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charllie Ann (Romine) Campbell of Paradise Valley, AZ.

 

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a celebration service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, in Coalbush United Methodist Church, 15977 Jackson Road, Mishawaka, with Rev. Jim Davidson officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. The family request that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in memory of Mary Jane to Coalbush United Methodist Church or to the Cystic Fibrosis Council, PO Box 475, Elkhart, IN 46515.
