Mildred S. Goheen

Mrs. Mildred S. Goheen, 80, passed away at 7:25 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. She had resided at 7456 E. 700 North, New Carlisle, Ind., for the last 30 years.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1919, in Hebron, Ind., to Charles and Hattie (Wilson) Daniels. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, David Daniels.

She came to New Carlisle from Valparaiso, Ind. She was the first Tupperware dealer in the state of Indiana, was former owner of Toy Chest Preschool, New Carlisle, and was the musical director for the Lydick United Methodist Church for 14 years. She attended the Lydick United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Baptist churches in LaPorte and South Bend. Her music career spanned 40 years in various capacities. She was very involved in the New Prairie community, and was very involved in promoting educational innovations and improvements within the New Prairie School Corporation.

On Nov. 28, 1952, in South Bend, she married Robert D. Goheen, who survives. She is also survived by two sons, Neil Goheen and Timothy Goheen, both of New Carlisle; three grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eva Daniels of Valparaiso; and by a nephew, Charles Daniels of Chester, Va.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, Jan. 22, in the Lydick United Methodist Church, Lydick, Ind., with Rev. Kevin Buckley and Dr. Ernest Geist officiating.

There will be no visitation or viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lydick United Methodist Church.
