Muriel Goheen

SOUTH BEND - Services for Muriel Goheen, 80, of Erskine Boulevard, who died at 10 p.m. Friday in her home, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Enbtombment will be in Highland Mausoleum. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, where Order of Eastern Star services will be at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Goheen retired in 1979 from South Bend Community School Corp. as head of the mathematics department at Clay High School and was a former teacher at Lakeville and Mill Creek. She was born Sept. 24, 1915, in Derby, Ind., and lived in South Bend since 1945. On April 30, 1938, in Bedford, Ind., as Muriel Gaither, she married DeVere D. Goheen. He survives with a half sister, Barbara Haggman of Boone, N.C.; a half brother, William Gaither of Memphis, Tenn.; and two nieces, Nancy Jo Pinney of South Bend and Kaylyn Kramer of Los Angeles. She was a member of Lakeville OES Chapter 479, Indiana State Teachers Association, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, American Association of University Women, Daughters of American Revolution and Pilots Club, and was past president of the Gamma Sigma Chapter of Psi Iota Xi Philanthropic Sorority.
