Bernice Thelma Goodling, 88, residing on Miami Road, Bremen, IN, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, in her home. She retired from the former National Mill, South Bend, after 30 years of service in bookkeeping. Mrs. Goodling was born January 10, 1913, in Lakeville, IN, as the daughter of Fred and Ida (Kaser) Beron, and lived most of her life in this area. On November 29, 1934, in Mishawaka, IN, she married Harold N. Goodling, who preceded her in death on March 20, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Marie Hively.

Mrs. Goodling is survived by two sons, David Goodling of Bremen and Wayne (Terry) Goodling of South Bend; two grandchildren, Matthew Goodling and Rachel Goodling; a brother, Earl (Inez) Beron of Lakeville; and a brother-in-law, George Hively of Walkerton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 24955 Riley Road, North Liberty, IN. Rev. David Tinker, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Mrs. Goodling was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, North Liberty. Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
