Robert Henry Gooley

SOUTH BEND – Robert H. Gooley, 90, of 931 S. 36th Street, died at 5:55 p.m. Thursday in his home after a three-month illness. He was a retired Ball Band employee. Born on Dec. 19, 1884 in Plymouth, he had lived here most of his life.

 

O June 15, 1910, in Mishawaka, he married Magdalena Steif, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, John H. and Edward, both of South Bend; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Vance of Mishawaka, Mrs. Loretta Stover of Niles and Mrs. Lucille Burkhart of South Bend; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Purcuker of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony de Pauda Catholic Church. Rev. Robert A. Yast, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home. He was a member of the Aerie 2083, Fraternal Order of Eagles; the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Holy Name Society of the church. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
