Frances K. Gorka

Frances K. Gorka, 86, who resided with her granddaughter Chris, and her husband, David Olmstead on Kenilworth Road in Lakeville, Ind., died at 11:03 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, in Memorial Hospital. She was born on Nov. 9, 1912, in Terre Coupee, Ind., and lived in this area all of her life. She retired from the University of Notre Dame.

 

On July 4, 1946, as Frances Przybylski, she married Edmund C. Gorka, Sr., who preceded her in death on March 11, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Antoinette (Gajewski) Przybylski; four brothers, Louie, Walter, Frank and Joseph Przybylski; one grandson, Edmund J. Gorka; and by one great-granddaughter, Angela Szuba.

 

She is survived by five daughters, Patricia (Dan) Slisz of Ellettsville, Ind., Geraldine (Floyd) Szuba, Georgiana (Edward) Palicki, Lorraine (Ervin) Koszyk, all of South Bend, and Maxine Snider of Mishawaka, Ind.; a son, Edmund (Geraldine) Gorka of South Bend; 29 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Blanche (Frank) Sniadecki and Harriet (Frank) Faltynski, both of South Bend, and Alice (Steve) Mate of Long Beach, Miss.; two brothers, John (Lucille) Przybylski and Stanley ''Sheik'' (Louise) Przybylski, both of South Bend; and by a sister-in-law, Eleanor Przybylski of South Bend.

 

Mrs. Gorka was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #357. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.

 


Note: According to a Daughter/Granddaughter listed above this was not her mother but her step-mother. Edmund was married previously to Martha Gorski and she was the mother of the above mentioned children. Martha died and Edmund married Frances, Frances had no children.
