March 26, 1914 - March 14, 1998

SOUTH BEND - Marie Gosc, 83, of Sumption Trail, South Bend, Ind., died at noon on Saturday, March 14, in St. Joseph's Care Center-West, South Bend.

She was born on March 26, 1914, in Carlisle, Tenn., and lived in this area for 74 years, coming from Tennessee.

She was married on Oct. 9, 1937, in South Bend, as Marie Manning, to Walter Gosc, who survives.

She is also survived by two daughters, Phyllis Crill of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Rosemarie McCarthy of Granger, Ind.; four sons, David Gosc of North Liberty, Ind., Joseph Gosc and Steven Gosc, both of South Bend, and Paul Gosc of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Edythe Van Duesen and Vera Hamilton, both of South Bend; and by a brother, Lloyd Havens of Osceola, Ind.

She was preceded in death by a son, Walter John Gosc, who died on March 25, 1989; two brothers, Otis Manning and Robert Havens; and by her parents, James Manning and Fannie Baughman.

Family and friends may call from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
