MISHAWAKA - Marlene C. Gosztola, 75, of Mishawaka, died at 3:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Golden Living Center-Fountainview, in Mishawaka. Marlene was born January 25, 1935, in Mishawaka, to the late Maurice and Anna (Coppens) Van Ooteghem. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Lisa Marie and Tamara Kay; one sister, Mary Rose Portolese; and three brothers, Richard, David and John Coppens Sr. Surviving are two sons, Timothy (Donna) Gosztola of Mishawaka and Thomas (Jamie) Gosztola of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Christine (Nathan) Hill, Kevin, Taylor and Avery Gosztola; and three sisters, JoAnn (Ron) Stealy of South Bend, IN, Judy (John) Long of South Carolina and Margie (Earl) Bradley of Mishawaka. Marlene was a homemaker and a devoted mother. She was a former member of the Toe Tappers at the Battel Center, attended St. Bavo's, and adored her grandchildren. She was known as the "family historian" with pictures and stories from years gone by. She was a bowler, a golfer, a sports fan (especially Notre Dame), and she never missed her soap operas. Visitation for Marlene will be Monday, August 2nd, from 2-4 and 6-8 in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The Rev. Barry England will officiate and burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Battel Center, 904 N. Main St., Mishawaka, IN 46545.
