John J. Goverinski

John J. Goverinski, 93, of U.S. 20, New Carlisle, Ind., passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Ind. He was born on June 12, 1905, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Goverinski was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. He retired in 1971 after 40 years of employment with South Bend Range, and was also a self-employed farmer. Mr. Goverinski was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish.

On Nov. 14, 1933, in Niles, Mich., he married Clara C. Sobieralski, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Patricia A. Sobieralski of South Bend, Deloris J. Goverinski of New Carlisle and Marie E. Goverinski of South Bend; a grandson, Mark A. Sobieralski of South Bend; and by a sister, Sophie Janik of Hammond, Ind.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Terre Coupee, Ind., with Rev. Eugene Kazmierczak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
