Augusta Graveel

MISHAWAKA – Mrs. Augusta Graveel, 81, of 501 W. 6th Street, died Wednesday in the Fountainview Nursing Home here after a lengthy illness. She was born in Oost Vlaanderen, Belgium on April 17, 1896. She lived here nearly all her life.

 

As Augusta DeMeester, she married Rene Graveel in South Bend on July, 10, 1916. He died in 1967. She and her husband operated the DeMeester Mustard Co. They changed the name to the Graveel Mustard Co. in 1941 and they sold the business in 1967. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John Lang of Mishawaka, a grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Clarence Becker.

 

Friends may call from 7 to 9 Friday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church of which she was a member. Rev. Stephen Cvignia, the pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Mrs. Graveel was a member of the Altar Society of the church.
