Joseph J. Graveel

MISHAWAKA – Word has been received of the death of Joseph J. Graveel, 59, of Sturgis, Mich., a former resident of Mishawaka, at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Sturgis Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. He was born in Mishawaka on April 4, 1912.

 

He married Natalie Van Kerchove on April 26, 1933 in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church. He operated a grocery and meat market in Mishawaka until 1955 when he moved to Michigan.

 

Surving in addition to his wife are a son, Michael Graveel of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Bauters of Mishawaka; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Graveel of Mishawaka; a brother Raymond Graveel of Mishawaka, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Brockhaus and Mrs. Robert Thieron of Mishawaka and six grandchildren.

 

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today and all day Thursday in the Schipper Funeral Home, Colon, Mich. Funeral services will he at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Mendo, Mich., and burial will be in Colon City Cemetery.
