John T. Griffin

John Thomas Griffin, 55, of LaPlata, Md., formerly of South Bend, Ind., died Sunday, Dec. 8, in the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.

Mr. Griffin was a self-employed finish carpenter. He loved the outdoors. He was a talented gardener and mechanic. Mr. Griffin was a master at repairing and creating fine carpentry. He could make something from nothing. He was truly a gifted man. Mr. Griffin was also a Marine Corps veteran, having served in Vietnam. Born Jan. 12, 1947, he was the son of the late Thomas A. Griffin. A sister, Janice Bella, also preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Cynthia A. Griffin; a son, Eric Michael Griffin of Virginia; a daughter, Cara Glynnis Bowling of LaPlata; a sister, Nancy Howsam of Mishawaka; two brothers, Ron C. Griffin and Randy F. Griffin, both of Granger, Ind.; two grandchildren, Claire Marie Griffin and Mia Mary Bowling; and by his mother, Bruna Griffin Marker of South Bend.

Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, 574/289-1000. Friends may call one hour before services.
