Ronald Joseph Griffin

Mr. Ronald Joseph Griffin, 60, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, who resided on Westmoor Street, South Bend, Ind., departed from this life following an extended illness at 11:18 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, in Saint Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. Mr. Griffin was born on April 21, 1940, in Saint Louis, Mo. His parents were the late Robert Grant and Ozzie Lee Griffin.

On Feb. 2, 1958, in Saint Louis, Ronald married Sedira Young, and had been a resident of South Bend since 1972. Mr. Griffin was employed at Sibley's Foundry from 1972 until 1991, and was a deacon at the Church of Jesus Christ.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Sedira; three daughters, Sharon Griffin, Lisa Griffin, all of South Bend, and Felicia (Lonnie) Harris of Fort Wayne; one son, Ronald Joseph (Candace) Griffin Jr. of South Bend; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Ruth (Willis) McCaster and Willie Mae Dorsey, both of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Daniel and Roy Griffin; and by a sister, Jeanette Sweeney.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 3, in Saint Luke Memorial Church of God in Christ, 139 East Haney, (219) 288-9432. Internment will be at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary.
