Margaret F. Griman (July 18, 1915 – June 13, 2006)
Margaret F. Griman, 90, formerly of Donald Street, passed away after a bried illness at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Margaret was born on July 18, 1915 to Alex and Frieda (Neimann) Powell, who have preceded her in death along with a son, Eugene C. Griman, and a brother, Robert Powell.
On April 23, 1935, as Margaret Powell, she married Carl J. Griman, who passed away on October 12, 1996. Margaret was employed by Wilson Brothers and then was the owner and operator of Griman’s Dairy Queen for 29 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Jeanette Blondia of South Bend, IN, and Julie (Chuck) Barany, also of South Bend, IN; one son, George Arthur (Lou Ann) Griman of Troy, OH.
There are nine grandchildren, Barbara (Robert) Bobson, Lori (Robert) Urbanski, Stephen Barany and Michelle Barany, all of South Bend, IN, Karen Stevens and Shawn Stevens, both of Granger, IN, Ron (Kim) Griman of Elkhart, IN, Jeff (Amy) Griman of Indianapolis, IN, and Brian (Stephanie) Griman of Mishawaka, IN; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy (Fred) Nelson of N.C. and Eleanor (Tom) Stahl of AZ, and one brother, James O. (Ruby) Powell of Mishawaka, IN.
Friends may call in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Ave., on Friday, June 16, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A parish rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthew’s Cathedral, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
