Lewis H. Grounds

Lewis H. Grounds, 58, of 2035 N. Johnson St., died at 9:30am Wednesday in his home after suffering an apparent heart attack.  Mr. Grounds was employed by the St Joseph County Police Department.

 

He was born October 20, 1926, in Pittsburgh, and lived in South Ben most of his life.  On January 28, 1949, in South Bend, he married the former F. Jane Kingsafer, who survives.  Also surviving are a son, Lewis H. Jr. of South Bend; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret E. Grounds of South Bend and Anna Marie David of Baltimore; and a brother, William W. of South Bend.  A sister, Dorothy L. Christenson, died Friday.

 

Services will be at 11am Saturday in Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 336 N. Main St. Burial will be in St Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday in the funeral home.  Mr. Grounds was a member of the South Bend Press Club and a veteran of WW II.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
