Jacqueline Marie Grove

Jacqueline Marie Grove, 78, of White Street in Osceola, Ind., passed away at 11:50 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, in St. Joseph County Hospice House in South Bend, Ind., after a long, valiant struggle with cancer. Jacqueline was born on January 1, 1922, in Champaign, Ill., to Samuel P. and Mabel G. (Marshall) Tarpenning, who both preceded her in death.

 

On January 28, 1950, in Osceola, Ind., she married Howard D. Grove, who also preceded her in death on September 23, 1996. Jacqueline leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Melanie K. Luna of Osceola, Ind.; two sons, Samuel G. Galloway, also of Osceola, and Jon H. Grove of Coldsprings, Ky.; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

 

Jacqueline belonged to American Legion Post 308 in Osceola, Order of Eastern Star, and was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church. In her younger years she attended the University of Illinois, and she enjoyed playing the violin, playing with her kids and grandchildren.

 

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, with visitation two hours prior. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
