SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Samuel Groves, CSC, 92, of St. Mary's Convent, died at 12:35 a.m. Friday in the convent. She was born Edna Marian Groves on July 11, 1901, in Colhutta, Ga.

She entered the congregation of the Sisters of The Holy Cross on June 30, 1925. She was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1926, and professed her vows Aug. 15, 1928. She was a teacher and assigned to secondary and elementary schools in Texas, Washington, D.C., Virginia and New York. She came to St. Mary's Convent in 1986. Surviving is a sister, Fleta Erickson of Sulfur, Okla.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Church of Loretto. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary's. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday in the church, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Bertrand Hall, St. Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
