Mildred Ilene Gushwa

Mildred Ilene Gushwa, 75 of 56819 Gurnsey Ave., Osceola, Ind., passed away at St. Joseph Community Hospital in Mishawaka, Ind., at 2:47 p.m. Sept. 5, after an illness. Mrs. Gushwa was employed by the Uniroyal Corporation, in Mishawaka, for 18 years prior to her retirement in 1983, from the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation where she worked in food services at Penn High School for 15 years.

 

She was born on July 16, 1921, in South Bend, Ind. and has been a lifelong are resident. As Mildred Ilene Ames, she married Donald Monroe Gushwa in South Bend, on Sept. 4, 1937, and he survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Donna Jean Bonds of Elkhart, Ind., Patricia Ann Smith of Osceola and Sandara Kay Urednick of Mishawaka; a son, Thomas Monroe Gushwa of Middlebury, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Hostetler of Rolling Prairie, Ind., Betty Sult of Mishawaka and Shirley Featherstone of Macon, Miss.

 

Friends may call at the Warner Funeral Home, 1109 L.W.W., Osceola, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., today, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday. Pastor Jim Lanard, of the Cedar Road Missionary Church in Mishawaka, will officiate. Burial will take place at the Osceola Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Gushwa had been a long-time member of the Eastern Star Osceola Lodge and there will be an Eastern Star service recited at 7:30 p.m., today, at the funeral home.
