Robert H. Gustafson Sr.

Robert H. "Gus" Gustafson Sr., 68, residing on MacArthur Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1932, in South Bend, to the late Henry Ruben and Edith Nona (Quick) Gustafson, and had lived in this community most of his life except from 1956 to 1966 while residing in Denver, Colo. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Clara Kish, Anita Pletcher, Phyllis Griffiths and Carol Pletcher; and by a brother, Henry Gustafson.

 

On Aug. 25, 1956, in Denver, he married Lorraine "Lori" Garramone, who survives. Surviving along with his loving wife of 44 years, Lori, are two daughters, Lisa M. (Russell) Moore of Sarasota, Fla., and Lynn L. (Michael) Minton of Barrington, Ill.; two sons, Robert H. (Jean Price) Gustafson Jr. and Ronald G. (Nancy) Gustafson, both of South Bend; five grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Moore, Maggie, Claire and Jillian Minton; two step-grandchildren, Eric and Emily Cranmer; and a sister, Marilyn Gustafson of South Bend. 

 

Mr. Gustafson retired in 1996 as director of purchasing following 25 years of service with Capital Technology. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2120 E. Jefferson, South Bend. Rev. Terry Fisher will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend.
