Joanne L. Habijanac

Joanne L. Habijanac, 63, of Lily Road, South Bend, Ind., died following an illness at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, in Regency Place of South Bend.

Mrs. Habijanac was born on Jan. 22, 1935, in Valparaiso, Ind., to Robert B. and Alice F. (Dillingham) Arnold, and had lived most of her life in the South Bend area.

She is survived by a son, Jeffrey Habijanac of South Bend; her mother, Alice Weldy of South Bend; and by two brothers, Keith Sorenson of Elkhart, Ind., and Robert D. Arnold of White Heath, Ill.

Mrs. Habijanac was employed as a school bus driver for the South Bend Community School Corporation for the last 15 years.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. She was a graduate of Riley High School, and enjoyed crocheting afghans as a hobby.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Rev. Neil Hampton officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
