Sister M. Clara Patrice Haggerty CSC, 104, of Saint Mary’s Convent died at 11:28 a.m. Sunday in the convent. She was born Sept. 5, 1880 in Scranton, Pa. and as Anna Haggerty, entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s Jan. 5, 1921. She was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1921 and made her profession of vows two years later. Prior to her entrance to the congregation, she was a registered nurse and graduated from the West Side Hospital School of Nursing in Scranton. Her community life was spent in the Apostolate of health services serving St. Joseph Medical Center in South Bend and the students infirmary at Notre Dame. She also served at Our Saviour’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill. and for 24 years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cairo, Ill. She retired to Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent in South Bend, where she resided until she was assigned to St. Mary’s Convent Infirmary in 1972.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Friends may call until the time of services at the St. Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. today.
