Dale E. Hahn

Dale E. Hahn, 84, died on Monday evening, May 29, 2006, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after a brief battle with cancer.

 

He was born on June 9, 1921, in Mishawaka to George and Ella (Beehler) Hahn.

 

On January 8, 1944, he married Eloise Williams in Cleveland, Ohio. They were married for forty years before she died on September 8, 1984.

 

Five years later, on February 19, 1989, Dale married his devoted wife, the former Carol Heater, who survives.

 

Dale was a lifetime area resident. He was a self-employed farmer who took great pride in his job, his family, and his friends. He was also a former postal worker. Dale was a 1939 graduate of Madison Township High School. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka, where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a very active former member of the Penn Athletic Boosters Club, as well as a member of the Madison Township Lions Club.

 

In addition to his wife, Carol, survivors include three daughters, Susan (Larry) Stamm, and Patty Moore, both of Mishawaka; Cathy (William) Bugg, of Jacksonville, Florida; and two sons, William (Kathi) Hahn of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and James (Cindy) Hahn of Goshen. His two stepdaughters are Linda (Don) Nagy of South Bend and Judy (Tom) Pauwels of Mishawaka. Dale is also survived by twelve grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Among the grandchildren are, Chad (Jami) Stamm, Ryan (Kari) Stamm, Grant (Susan) Moore, Kyle Moore, Brian, Tim, and Brandon Bugg, Matthew and Ashley Hahn, Jamie Hahn and Nathan and Casey Littlefield. His step-grandchildren are Angie (Mark) Strawmyer, Christie (Stefan) Selby and Jennifer and Melissa Pauwels. His great-grandchildren include Austin and Micah Stamm, Lydia and Ellie Stamm, Allison, Jake, and Will Moore, Abby and Brady Strawmyer, and Colin and Chandler Selby.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Richard.

 

A visitation will be held for family and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka.

 

Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service in First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka. Reverend Gary Scott will officiate.

 

Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in Dale's name to First United Methodist Church or the Madison Township Lions Club.
