Richard H. Hahn

Richard H. "Dick" Hahn, 84, of Kelly Road, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Friday, Jan. 16, in Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Ind.

He was born on March 14, 1919, in Mishawaka, as the son of the late George and Ella (Beehler) Hahn. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles H. Hahn.

In October 1940, in Mishawaka, he married the former Marjorie Van Tyle, who died in February 1970.

In March 1972, he married the former Virginia Ganser Weinberg, who survives. He is also survived by their daughter, Jean Ann (Nick) Jordan of Dausman, Wis.; three sons, Lynn (Janet) Hahn of Mishawaka, Kent (Sue) Weinberg of Decatur, Mich., and Kraig (Monique) Weinberg of Trenton, Ill.; and by a brother, Dale (Carol) Hahn of Mishawaka. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Dr. Chris (Mariselle) Jordan, Tim Jordan, Stephanie Jordan, Brian (Colleen) Hahn, Lisa (Shane) Ray, Jeremy (Jessica) Weinberg, Sarah (Steve) Olson, Emily and Kane Weinberg, Cindy (Tom) Dawson, Randy (Tiffany) Holdeman and Lisa Redington; 14 great-grandchildren; and by a sister-in-law, Jane Holdeman of Danville, Ind.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 6 p.m. today in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, where the Rev. Dave Widmeyer and the Rev. Jane White Stevens will officiate. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.

Dick was a 1937 graduate of Madison High School, worked for Dodge Manufacturing and was also in the insurance business. His true love was farming, and he will always be remembered for Hahn's Best Eggs. He enjoyed the business relationships he developed over the years, especially with the local markets and the Burger Dairy Stores. He retired in 1989 in order to pursue his love of travel and also to spend more time with his family. He especially enjoyed attending the many events that his grandchildren and nephews were involved with. Dick enjoyed Purdue and Chicago Cubs games, and was an avid reader. He was also a member of Farm Bureau, and for many years was a member of the Madison Township Lions Club. He was also a member, lay leader and a Sunday School teacher at the Tamarak United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Tamarak United Methodist Church, to the Madison Township Lions Club or to the American Heart Association, all in care of the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
