Willis Matnard Hahn

WAKARUSA — Willis Maynard Hahn, 86, of 10603 Madison Road, died at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, in Elkhart General Hospital, where he had been a patient since Jan. 2, 2001.

 

Mr. Hahn, the son of Frank Jr. and Laura (Birk) Hahn, was born in Elkhart County on Feb. 3, 1914, and married Ethel Marks on Dec. 12, 1934. She died on Feb. 28, 1962. He then married Lois Marks on Dec. 21, 1963, and she survives.

 

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Phyllis) Miller Jr. of South Bend and Mrs. Michael (Miriam) Shaffer of Granger; a son, Maynard L. of Wakarusa; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Viola Smeltzer of Middlebury.  Three brothers, Harold, Ralph and Lloyd; and a sister, Elsie Culp, are deceased.

 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 10:30 a.m. in Olive Mennonite Church. Pastor Bill Hooley will officiate, and burial will be at Olive (West) Cemetery.

 

Mr. Hahn was a retired farmer and founder of the Hahn Construction Company. He was a member of Olive Mennonite Church.
