James R. Haines

SOUTH BEND - James R. Haines, 55, of 1616 Dorwood Drive, died at 6:55 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital after an illness. Mr. Haines was an associate professor in the psychology department at Indiana University South Bend. He was born March 22, 1938, in Topeka, Kan., and had lived in South Bend since 1971, coming from Kansas.

 

On May 26, 1960, in Tahlequah, Okla., he married Betty Martha Perry. She survives with two daughters, Laura Johnson of Fort Collins, Colo., and Louise Anne Haines of Bloomington, Ind.; a sister, Louise Booher of Roseville, Calif.; and two brothers, Harold of Topeka and Warren of Overland Park, Kan. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas. He was a member of American Federation of Musicians, American Psychological Association, Sinfonia Association and Psi Chi Honor Society.

 

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Graveside services and burial will be Monday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.
