Mrs. Joseph (Alice) Halasz: (South Bend Tribune 2/8/1979)

Mrs. Alice Halasz, 60, of 229 E. Victoria, died at 2:55 a.m. today in St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was ill five months. She was an employe of the St. Joseph Bank and Trust Co., and was a waitress at the Chevron Cafe. She was born on Jan 26, 1919, in South Bend, and was a lifetime resident. On Feb. 22, 1941, in South Bend, as Alice Nadolny she married Walter Podemski. He died in 1966. On April 11, 1970, in South Bend, she married Joseph Halasz. He survives with two daughters, Mrs. Janice Borton and Miss Susan Podemski, both of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Linda Clark of Walkerton; a son, Walter Joseph Podemski of Mishawaka; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Kati, Mrs. Antoinette Peterson and Mrs. Adeline Wharton, all of South Bend; two brothers, Stanley Nadolny Jr., and Theodore Nadolny, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Nadolny Sr., all of South Bend. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Matthew Cathedral. Most Rev. Joseph R. Crowley, rector, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at the St. Joseph Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday. She was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Matthew and of the auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1167. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society.
