Ella M. Hall

SOUTH BEND - Ella Mae Hall was born on December 22, 1927 in Marianna, Arkansas to the union of Wiley and Mary (Singleton) Turner, who both preceded her in death. The angel of silence entered into her life at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, April 22, 2010. Ella Mae was united in matrimony in South Bend, Indiana on December 12, 1953 to the late James Avery Hall. Ella Mae accepted Christ in her life at an early age. She united with Greater Friendship Baptist Church some 50 plus years ago. She served under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend A. D. Williams, the late Reverend Dave Davis and her current pastor, Reverend Larry Davidson. As a faithful member, she sang in the church choir. Her warm personality made her ideal to serve on the Usher Board also. Ella Mae was a giver and one of her favorite things to do was cooking; especially preparing many of her family and friends special dishes. She also adored her family. Ella Mae was employed by Dr. Lionberger, her extended family, for over 50 years. Ella Mae leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Overdis Hall of Forrest City, Arkansas; one surviving sister, Annie L. Montague of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, who is 96 years old; nieces, Sheena (Albert) Garvin, Terria Harris, who cared for Ella during an extended illness; nieces and nephews, Carey and Darlene Kimble, Carl and Anna Kimble, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kimble, Larry and Karen Turner, Mary Rose and Ronald Pope, Pam and Brenda Turner, John and Jeanne Greer, Margaret Arnold and Milford and Lisa McKinney Jr. and Wiley Turner Jr., Willie and Candy Alsanders, Bessie and Henry Nichols, all of South Bend, Eddis and Wilson Nunley, Sherry Walker, Lillian Wilson, Sam and Delores Fowler, LaRay and Damone Fowler, Marcus Harvell and Charles Kimble, all of Los Angeles, CA, Bessie, Bobby Jean Smith of Chicago, IL, Lowrell Smith of Marianna, AR, Brenda, Donnie, Bill and Marilyn Fisher of Flint, MI, Timmy Turner, Denver, Co., Curtis Turner of VA, and Lucious Turner of Kansas; sisters-in-law, Rose Turner and Annie Mae Turner; brother-in-law, Charles Kimble; best friends, Helen Miller and Louise Douglas, all of South Bend, IN, along with a host of cousins, other relatives, church family and dear friends. Ella Mae was preceded in death by four sisters, Christine Walker, Frances Kimble, Martha Ann Smith and Mevalene Fisher; and by two brothers, Wiley and Lucious Turner. Funeral services for Mrs. Hall will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Davidson, officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
