Robert J. Halley

July 1, 1926 - March 18, 2003

Robert J. "R.J." Halley, 76, of Hendricks Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center Emergency Room, Mishawaka. Robert was born on July 1, 1926, in Moberly, Mo., to Floyd W. and Lula (Dunivent) Halley, who both have preceded him in death. He was also preceded by three sons, Robert James Halley II, Randy Lee Halley and Mark Allen Halley.

 

On May 14, 1949, in South Bend, Ind., Robert married Lucille E. Stratton. Lucille passed away on Feb. 8, 2003. Robert is survived by one son, Robert W. Halley of Mishawaka; two daughters-in-law, Jennifer Halley of Mishawaka and Melanie Philippsen of Wabash, Ind.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and by a sister, Helen Patterson of Laramie, Wyo.

 

Robert was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from Moellering Supply Company in 1988 after 15 years of service. Robert was a member of V.F.W. Post # 360, American Legion #161, and F.O.E. #2083 in Mishawaka.

 

Family and friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003. Rev. Robert Baird will officiate the services, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. V.F.W. Post #360 will conduct military graveside rites.
