John E. Hall, Sr.

John E. Hall, Sr., 62, of Byrkit Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness on Sunday, May 28, at 3:45 a.m. in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. Hall was born on July 25, 1937 in Mishawaka, as the son of the late C. Edward and Marie (Huba) Hall. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Hall.

 

On May 14, 1960, in St. Monica's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, he married the former Joellen "Jody" Davis. Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Jody, of 40 years; two sons, John (Margie) Hall, Jr. of Mishawaka and Jeffrey (Carol) Hall of Granger, Ind.; five grandchildren, Karen Hall of Granger, Joshua Hall, Sarah Hall, Zachariah Hall and Noah Hall, all of Mishawaka; a sister, Carolyn Jankowski of Jupiter, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Andy) Pavuls of Mishawaka and Colleen Lerner of South Bend; a brother-in-law, Jack (Phyllis) Davis of Mishawaka; two aunts, Eileen Bueche and Virginia Canfield, both of Mishawaka; two nieces, Andra Pavuls of Mishawaka and Terrie (Mike) Linsky of Osceola; seven nephews, Larry (Suzanne) Davis of Granger, J. Michael (Connie) Davis of Granger, Bradley Davis of Boulder, Colo., Ryan (Carole) Davis of Eggersville, N.Y., Dr. Robert (Annette) Lerner of Berkley, Mich., Kenton (Kathy) Lerner of West Chester, Penn., and Andy Pavuls of Atlanta, Ga.; along with several great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

 

Mr. Hall was employed by the former Wheelabrator-Frye for 20 years (1962-1982), and the Balcrank Corp. of Asheville, N.C. for four years (1982-1986). He also was the owner and operator of Halls Sales and Service for seven years (1986-1993) and presently was employed by Daman Products for seven years. Mr. Hall was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka. He was a Scout Master at St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a member of the Indian Guides. He was the past president of East Side Little League, South Bend, where he coached baseball. He also coached baseball and football at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He was a member of the South Bend Remote Control Club, the Mishawaka Rotary Club, as well as a former member of the Elk's Club. Mr. Hall served in the Navy from 1955 to 1957.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth St., Mishawaka, where a wake prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, where military rites will be conducted. Contributions in memory of Mr. Hall may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church and/or the Choir, 225 S.
