Leona Rose Hall

Leona Rose Hall, 70, of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Friday, Feb. 23, in Memorial Hospital.

She was born on April 16, 1930, in South Bend, to Cary and Margaret (Sippy) Shank. Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

 

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 44 years, Charles H. Hall, who she married on Dec. 24, 1957. Also surviving are her sons, Michael (Penny) Hall of Bloomfield, Ind., and James (Deborah) Hall of Walkerton, Ind.; a daughter, Charla (Dave) Opfer of South Bend; her grandchildren, Nathaniel Hall, Ryan Hall, Kyle Hall, Joshua Dubie, Charles Hall, Jeremy Hall, Bryan Hughes and Monica Hughes; her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Hughes, Breanna Hughes, Alex Hughes and Kayla Hughes; her sisters, Clara Webb, Mary Jones, Betty Richards, Phyllis Northcutt, Cindy Kaiser, all of South Bend, and Pat Promroy of Plymouth, Ind.; her brothers, Harold Esherman, John Shank of South Bend, Thomas Shank of Elkhart, Ind., and Richard Shank of Jacksonville, Fla.

 

Leona was a lifetime member of the women's auxiliary at Chain-O'Lakes Conservation Club where she helped in the kitchen. She loved to play bingo and cards. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, in the WELSHEIMER FUNERAL HOME, 521 N. William Street, and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chain O'Lakes Conservation Club.
