Richard C. Hamman

Feb. 22, 1926 - July 27, 2000

Our precious and loving Richard C. Hamman left this earth on July 27, 2000, at 11 a.m., in his East 8th Street home. Richard was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on Feb. 22, 1926, to Frank and Dora Hamman.

 

On Dec. 28, 1945, he married Beatrice Moses. Richard lived in Mishawaka for 74 years.

Richard was retired from Allied Stamping, where he worked for 27 years. He worked at Studebaker for 27 years, until closing in 1963. He was also a Marine veteran in World War II, and a lifelong member of the V.F.W. Post 360.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice; a son, Richard H. (Dianne) of Niles, Mich.; a daughter, Karen (Tom) Stemes of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, Cassandra Stemes, Jennifer (Bill) Murrmann, Kimberly Stemes and Thomas Stemes, Jr., all of Mishawaka, and Kristy Hamman, Shelly Hamman and Angie Hamman, all of Niles; three great-grandchildren, Melony, Hilary and Noah Murrmann who loved their Paw Paw Hamman dearly. He is also survived by two sisters, Dora Hegarty and Ruth Palmer, both of Mishawaka; and a brother, George of Milwaukee, Wis. Two sisters and seven brothers preceded him in death.

 

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. on Monday, July 31, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, in the funeral chapel. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. A luncheon will follow at V.F.W. Post 360, 1307 E. Jefferson Blvd., following the burial. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the Queen of Peace School Endowment Fund, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka, Ind. 46544, in Richard's name.
