OSCEOLA - Maxine E. Hammons, 74, of 202 Olive St., died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend. Mrs. Hammons was formerly employed with Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp. She was born Nov. 8, 1920, in Mishawaka.
On June 28, 1952, in Osceola, as Maxine E. Huff, she married Lester W. Hammons. He survives with a daughter, Connie Mapes of Elkhart; two sons, Kim of Mishawaka and Jim of Osceola; four grandchildren; and her mother, Reva Huff of Marcellus. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star in Osceola (formerly Mishawaka).
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sparta Cemetery, Kimmel. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
