Earl Eugene Haney

Earl Eugene (Gene) Haney, 64, of 909 Harrison St., Walkerton, Ind., passed away Sunday, in his residence. Mr. Haney was the owner of Gene's Plastics, where he was also a designer and engineer.

Gene was born on April 4, 1932, in Dixie, Ark., to Henry Haney, who preceded him in death, and Hattie Louise (Hollis) Haney of Walkerton. He had lived in this area for 47 years.

 

On March 24, 1951, in Knox, Ind., he married Delores Mae (Dankert) Haney, who survives. He also has three children, Vickie Ganger of Walkerton and Terry Haney and Billy Haney, both of Plymouth, Ind.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, James Haney of LaPorte, Ind.; and two sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Mary Burkhead, both of Walkerton. Two sisters, Lottie Fay Haney and Vernie Bernice Baker, preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, in the First Baptist Church at Walkerton. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, 408 Roosevelt Rd., Walkerton. Mr. Haney was a member of the church and a self-taught musician who saw the beauty in music. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
