Helen M. Haney

Helen M. Haney, 86, of South Bend, Ind., formerly of Granger, Ind., died following an illness, at 10:22 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, in Healthwin Specialized Care Center. Mrs. Haney was born on May 16, 1913, in Lafayette, Ind., to George and Etta (Meyer) Kirby.

 

On Dec. 4, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas, as Helen Kirby, she married Lewis Haney, who preceded her in death on May 27, 1989. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Schmitz and by a brother, George Kirby. Mr. and Mrs. Haney were members of Harris Prairie Church of Christ, Granger. Mrs. Haney retired from the Associates after 15 years service.

 

She is survived by three daughters, Constance (Dennis) Grote of Littleton, Colo., Suzanne (Thomas) Asire of Palmetto, Fla., and Sandra (Richard) Coughenour of St. Louis, Mo.; a son, Larry (Olga) Haney of Elkhart, Ind..; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Zirkle of Topeka.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 17, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, in the funeral home.
