  Ivan Harneck

July 7, 1925-June 10, 1996 SOUTH BEND — Ivan "Lee" Harneck, 70, of 50515 Lilac Road, died about 11:55 a.m. Monday in an ultralight aircraft crash at Walton and Geyer roads, Niles. Mr. Harneck retired in 1990 from Bendix Corp. as an electrical engineer. He was born July 7, 1925, in Applegate, Mich., and lived in South Bend for 13 years. On April 1, 1950, in Port Huron, Mich., he married Thelma N. McLean. She died Oct. 25, 1990. He is survived by a son, Larry I. of Oxford, Mich.; two grandsons; three sisters, Hilda Bingle of Croswell, Mich., Verna Smith of Lexington, Mich., and Lillian Falls of Carsonville, Mich.; and a brother, Robert C. of Croswell. A son, Brian A., died Jan. 26, 1960. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Experimental Aircraft Builders Association, Bendix Aerospace Engineering Group and LAND-STAT.

Services will be at 11 a.m. (Michigan time) Saturday in Arthur Smith Funeral Home, Port Huron, Mich. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot, Mich. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. (Michigan time) Thursday in Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. (Michigan Time) Friday in Arthur Smith Funeral Home, Port Huron.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
