William Harrison

June 13, 1914 - July 8, 2001

Mr. William Harrison, 87, husband, stepfather, grandfather and brother, who resided on South Falcon Street, South Bend, Ind., departed this life at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, July 8, in the Saint Joseph Care Center West. On June 13, 1914, in Marigold, Miss., he was born to the union of the late Lee and Emma Harris. Coming from Marigold, he moved to South Bend many years ago. After being discharged from the United States Army, he was employed by the Studebaker Corporation for a number of years and Steel Warehouse. He was also a member of Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ where he served on the usher board.

 

He and Ella Walker were united in marriage in South Bend on July 1, 1989. Family members who survive include his wife, Ella; a stepson, Rufus Verse of South Bend; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mable (Robert) Fice and Lillie Young, both of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Bishop Clyde (Pastor Audrey) Harris of South Bend and Wilie Harris of Marigold; and other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in All Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Alford's Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
