Sister Miriam Dolores Hartrich CSC, 70, of St. Mary’s Convent, a former administrator of St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, died this morning. She was born Jane Louise Hartrich on June 24, 1909 in Chicago and graduated from St. Mary’s College in 1930. On July 5, 1930 she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s; was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1931; and made her final vows on Jan. 6, 1933. She graduated from Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Salt Lake City in 1936. During her carrer she worked in various areas of health services. She served as director of nurses at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson, Ind. from 1937 to 1947. In 1956 she received a master’s degree in hospital administration from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Mo. During her career as an administrator she worked at various hospitals, including St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend from 1948 to 1954. She returned to St. Mary’s Convent to live in 1976.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call after 4 p.m. in the convent parlors where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today.
