Sister Cecelia Hart CSC

Sister Cecelia CSC, 72, who retired Oct. 10, after 34 years of service at the students infirmary at the University of Notre Dame, and known to every student and alumni as “mother”, died Sunday evening in the infirmary for the Sisters of the Holy Cross. She returned to the convent infirmary of which she had been in charge for 10 years, on Oct. 10th, when she became ill of a heart ailment. She was born in Albany NY and entered the convent in 1883. After some years of general work about the institution she was assigned to the infirmary for nuns, serving in that position for 10 years. She then became head of the infirmary at Notre Dame.

 

Funeral services will be at 8 a.m. Tuesday in the sister chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
