Doris A. Hasan

SOUTH BEND - Born Doris Ann Baylark on January 23, 1950, to the late Mr. And Mrs. Johnnie and Bernice Baylark Sr., she was the third of nine children. Doris was raised in Helena, Arkansas. She graduated from Eliza Miller High School class of 1968. She studied nursing at The University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff (UAPB). Doris married her high school sweetheart, Spurgeon Hasan on August 25, 1969. Of this union six children were born. The family moved to South Bend in 1978, where she resided until her passing. The couple dedicated their lives to the faith of Islam early in the union. Doris was a devoted mother and wife; she was also a great asset as a member of the South Bend community. Caring for the future was not only the slogan for her business (Kiddi Garden Day Care) which she operated for over 30 years -- it was truly her passion. Doris was selfless, kind, and understanding. She sacrificed often with no regrets. Doris saw your needs and tried to meet them to the best of her ability. Mrs. Hasan is survived by her husband of 42 years, Spurgeon; six children, Andrea Tobar, Julian (Simore) Hasan, Nikesha (Charles) Boyd, and Talib Hasan, all of South Bend, Terra Cotton of Elkhart, and Kenya (Gregory) Hawkins of Columbus, OH; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Betty Darnell, Rose Buford, David Baylark, all of Helena, AR, Earline Baylark, Steven Baylark and Danelle Baylark of Little Rock, AR, Carolyn Been of Charlotte, NC, and Johnnie Baylark Jr. Of Downers Grove, IL. Hosts of other family members and friends are left to cherish her memory always. Doris was definitely loved and will truly be missed. Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Ann Hasan will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 in Alford's Mortuary with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Viewing will take place in the chapel form 9 to 10 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary where messages of condolences my be e-mailed to alfordsmortuary@comcast.net c/o of Hasan family.
