SOUTH BEND - Alice L. Hassan, 81, of South Bend, passed
away late Saturday evening, Dec. 8, 2007, in Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Alice was born Dec. 30, 1925,
in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Edmond and Zulma (Warniers)
DeMaegd. She grew up in Mishawaka.
On September 14, 1943, she married Daniel
Hassan and they have lived in South Bend for many years. Alice
was a homemaker and her life was her family. Alice's surviving
family includes her husband of 64 years, Daniel Hassan Sr. of
South Bend; a son, Daniel (Diana) Hassan Jr. of South Bend; a
daughter, Jean (Robert) Thielka of Danville, IN; four
grandchildren, Rebecca (Jerome) Torzewski, Daniel
(Jennifer) Hassan III, William (Karin) Crum and Mary
(Jameral) Thomas; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers,
Julius (Lorna) DeMaegd and Raymond (Margaret) DeMaegd; and a
sister, Margaret Seeley. Alice was preceded in death by
six brothers, Arthur, Leon, Homer, Henry, Cyriel and Floris
DeMaegd; and by two sisters, Irene Smith and Mary Finn.
Private services were held Tuesday in
Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka. Burial
followed at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Contributions in
Alice's memory may be made to Riley Children's Hospital.
