Ruby A. Hawkins

December 11, 1904December 30, 2001

 

Ruby A. Hawkins, 97, of Wellington Parkway, Granger, Indiana, died Sunday, December 30th in Fountainview Place Nursing Home. Mrs. Hawkins was born on December 11, 1904 in Depoy, Kentucky to John and Lottie (Clemens) Baker. On April 16, 1925 in Madisonville, Kentucky Ruby married Leslie Owen Hawkins who died on April 12, 1981. Ruby was the Co-Owner of L.O. Hawkins Plumbing Supply Company. Ruby was a charter member of the South Bend Tabernacle Church. And both Ruby and Leslie were co-founders of Twin City Baptist Church and the Mayflower Baptist Church.

Surviving Ruby are their two daughters, Nancy (Orton) Mills of Granger, Indiana; and Betty June (William) Burger of Holiday, Florida; a son, Charles Owen (Bonnie) Hawkins of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren, Charles; Roy; Sandra; William A.; Leslie and Kimberly; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.

Family and friends may call Wednesday January 2nd in the FOREST G. HAY FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday January 3rd at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Jay Ott officiating, burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
